  • What is MSM and what does it do?

  • For how long should I continue to give my dog VetIQ® Hip & Joint soft chews?

Once a dog develops age-related joint concerns, it’s best to stick to supplementation for the remainder of its life to promote ongoing joint health. For maximum benefit, you may choose to double the amount given for the first 2 to 3 weeks of use as a loading phase, and then return to the ongoing recommended dose for the long term. Be sure to speak with your veterinarian to find the best course of action.

  • Does VetIQ® Hip & Joint have side effects?

In rare circumstances, vomiting or diarrhea may occur.

  • How soon after giving my pet VetIQ® Hip & Joint should I expect to see improvement?

Each pet is unique and will respond differently, but it’s normal to observe improved joint movement and flexibility within the first 2 to 3 weeks, if taken as instructed. For maximum benefit, you may choose to double the amount given for the first 2 to 3 weeks of use as a loading phase, and then return to the ongoing recommended dose for the long term.

  • My dog takes other medications. Is it okay to give him a hip and joint supplement?

It’s always best to check with your veterinarian for specific questions related to your dog.

  • How can I tell if VetIQ® Hip & Joint is helping my dog?

Mobility: Is your dog more active than before? Does she have less difficulty getting up after resting? Does your dog jump more and climb stairs easier?

Limping: Is your dog limping less and willing to put more weight on his joints?

Joint Licking: Some dogs lick their sore joints. If this was the case for your dog, have you observed a decrease in joint licking and chewing?

Behavioral Changes: Has your dog’s aggression level dropped?

  • Why is glucosamine so important for my dog?

Glucosamine is a supplement commonly recommended to improve joint health and ease joint discomfort. Studies abound on its effectiveness in helping form and repair joint cartilage, the material between the bones in a joint that cushion and protect. As dogs age, the natural production of glucosamine in their body shows. Ongoing joint wear and tear and slower cartilage repair time can lead to limited joint movement, flexibility and joint discomfort. Glucosamine supplementation can help to support cartilage and joint mobility and maintains muscles.
