Good tidings we bring to you and your pup! We couldn’t be more excited to deck the halls and spend time with loved ones–including our beloved pets. But before the fun begins, we have to finish up all that Christmas shopping. For being so nice all year, our pets definitely deserve something too.
This Christmas, we thought we would spice things up a bit and give you some fun and festive gift ideas that will inspire you to create something by hand for your four-legged family members.
Bedazzled Dog Collar
Put those crafty hands to use and design a cute collar for that fashionista pup. Bedazzle it with jewels, or put some jingle bells on it for a festive flair. You can also purchase your favorite fabric and webbing from the store and stitch up a collar in no time!
A Cozy Coat or Sweater
For those impressive folks who can knit, crochet, or sew, create a snazzy sweater or coat for your dog to keep them nice and toasty all winter long. Not only will it keep your pet warm, but you will score some bragging points with your guests when they see how cute it looks!
Personalized Pet Bowl
Maybe this time of year brings out your creative side. If that’s the case, designing a personalized doggy bowl is a great gift. Take a trip down to your local craft store to find ceramic bowls, stickers, and paint, and let your artistic abilities take over. Another great option is to find a plain dog bowl and customize it with your pet’s name.
Do-It-Yourself Doggy Bed
After a while, doggy beds can experience a lot of wear and tear, especially if your dog considers it to be their personal chew toy. Designing and building one at home can be cost effective and is the perfect gift for any pet. Come Christmas morning your dog will be in pure bliss when he can nap on his new bed after all of the holiday hustle and bustle.
Customized Pet ID Tag
What dog doesn’t dig a new accessory for Christmas? If you have thought it’s time for your four-legged friend to get a new ID tag, try making your own! While it might not be as easy as going down to one of those handy machines, creating your own gives it more personality.
Pet Place Mat
Mealtime is one of the highlights of the day for a dog. Make it extra special by creating a custom-made pet place mat to go under it. The best part? It benefits you by keeping your floors damage free from spills and scratches.
Dogs will play with anything they can get their little paws on, but make sure it is always safe. There are many tutorials online for all types of homemade dog toys using toilet paper rolls, tennis balls, fabric–you name it. One of the easiest ideas is to find a used plastic water bottle and place it in a sock that is at least 5 inches longer. Tie the sock at the open end and there you go, instant dog toy.
This Christmas, make something extra special that your furbaby will enjoy! After all, our dogs ought to have a special surprise under the tree too. And if all else fails, we won’t blame you if you decide just to pick up some healthy dog treats from the store.
